The First Amendment Establishment clause [“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”] prohibits the establishment of a state religion or theocracy. The result is an open free market where the various religions can compete for the hearts & minds of  the individual, not a monolithic, compulsory “crony theology” like that oppressing most of the Islamic world.  Such a crystalline constitutional concept offers the only real hope for improvement in today’s turbulent Islamic world. Without a constitution promoting & protecting Individual Rights, Islam will go from bad [stable dictatorship] to worse[Islamic totalitarianism]. Think the Shah, then think Khomeini & Ahmadinejad. Think Mubarak, then….?
