Acquired in 2016 in a tchotchke shop in London, right across from Harrod’s, the welcome clicking sound of Donald going into his daily sun dance has provided (particularly since 2020) an inspiring sense that somehow this Energizer Bunny/Phoenix, like the sun itself, was not about to stop rising.
OOOO!! Stop! Stop! I can’t stand it!! Well, actually, yes I can.

UPDATE 4/11/25: Tariff hysteria is heading to the back burner as the market insists it’s not dead, and dozens of nations line up to negotiate good deals with The Donald. Markets will do good things for investors excited by positive results, not empty promises. Meanwhile, the TDS crowd continues to sob over any good news from MAGAWorld.
UPDATE 4/11/25: Trump’s vision of a re-industrialized, self-sufficient America provides hope to those betrayed by a Dem Party that has owned them for 60 years: the blue collar workers whose jobs have gone to China and Mexico, the shattered Black families destroyed by welfare culture. God willing, the surprising turn-out for Trump by minority and blue-collar men and the success of his economic policies are just a preface to what promises to be a genuine American renaissance…to the everlasting despair & befuddlement of a dying, dense, corrupted Dem Party.

UPDATE 4/5/25: Wring your hands, follow the hysterical mob or go with the guy who has the nerve to do what all his predecessors needed to do but feared doing. And what needs doing is compelling foreign countries to lower their exorbitant tariffs at which point we are ready to graciously match them, tit for tat. THEY are already able to make profits selling their products here thanks to OUR relatively low tariffs while WE foolishly allow ourselves to operate at a deficit selling to them thanks to THEIR ridiculously inflated tariffs. No longer. America First, right?
Nope. It’s Blame America First. Or rather, blame Trump first. He is the bad guy even though it’s all their choice, not ours. Don’t count on a rational response from an irrational world, and that includes spooked Wall Street and its stockholders all villainizing Trump for finally ending OUR self-negating policies in international trade.
No good deed goes unpunished. Blame Trump First.
UPDATE 4/5/25: As someone has written, there have been more opinions spouted this week about TARIFFS than there are grains of sand on the beach. Out of the veritable tidal wave of confusion and anxiety washing over us, a single approach offers up a comforting mix of hard realism and justifiable optimism: drop your tariffs, we drop ours. Long live free trade! Those nations early to sign up to Trump’s offer get to do business today in America at the lowest rates; the hold-outs will risk missing out on the bargains currently offered. Remember who wrote The Art Of The Deal?

UPDATE 4/3/25: It’s been an unsettling week or two with a Wisconsin election (and resultant gerrymandering) threatening in short order to return the House to the Dems. Lawfare obstruction from planted activist stooges in the lower judiciary continues to pop up against anything that moves from the White House. The Dems have gleefully deputized violence-prone, useful idiot lowlifes in their ranks to trash Teslas and intimidate their owners. “Respectable” Dems, pretending to be above such messiness, quietly yearn for ANY Trump failure that might enable a return to the good old Woke wrecking ball days of BrandonWorld. Of primary concern: Will awakened new Trump voters who got him elected prove shaky and flee back to the dark Blue side come the midterms?
Most troubling of all, after a three month honeymoon of repeated winning, there is now a fissure within the MAGA base thanks to “tariffs.” Most of us are not versed in the ways of hardball economics, and it’s imperative that the administration go overboard to make things clear and instill confidence in this roll of the dice.
O’Reilly provides a blessedly clear explanation for the big gamble Trump is taking with this upheaval, a move bolder than any taken by a White House occupant since Teddy Roosevelt brandished his Big Stick against the Robber Barons…and won. The issue is whether America will continue to allow foreign products to be affordable here while our own exports are made unaffordable by the tariffs and regulations imposed by those same countries taking home billions (trillions!) from their American sales.
To add insult to injury, those same countries like China & Mexico, profiting mightily from relatively low tariffs entering American markets, have managed to lure American investment and production to themselves by providing cheap labor, sometimes literally unpaid slave labor. Trump’s vision is to bring back those businesses and investment en masse in determined pursuit of a reborn, industrialized, self-sufficient America. We’ll still be happy to buy coffee from Guatemala and cheap tchotchkes from China, so no seller need go without a consumer. We just won’t be operating at a loss while they thrive.
Will it work? Or are we doomed to a jittery electorate stupidly ceding power back to the Dem/globalist alliance itching to resume its plans for “Transformation,” reducing America permanently to a quiet, subservient place alongside every other enslaved nation overseen on the WEF plantation?
An awful lot riding on this one.
UPDATE 4/2/25: It’s easier to dig a deep hole than climbing out of one. This is the plight of the welfare/government subsidized state aka socialism which America started shooting up like heroin beginning early in the last century. Now addicted to government hand-outs, too many Americans find themselves panicked at the necessity of earning their livelihoods in the private sector. No wonder the Left is finding it so easy to rile up the mindless masses against Elon/Doge and Trump/tariffs despite the fact that, given the chance for full implementation, this vision will provide an abundance of good jobs, low taxes and lower costs for Mr. & Mrs. Average American.
Previous Presidents who very well knew better never have taken these bold and necessary steps precisely because of the short-term political risks: a shaky stock market and outcry over the loss of government subsidies. Going even against many on our side, does one dare believe that it is time to throw that caution aside? Naturally, the predictable fearmongers in DC and their lapdog media have everything to gain from Trump’s failure and are busy spreading outright lies, claiming Social Security and Medicare are on the chopping block. But then we all know how Dems love to lie and push panic buttons. They operate exclusively on fear and division in service to absolute power.

Ben Shapiro expresses well the doubts even diehard MAGA supporters have regarding the tariffs. BUT he gives Trump the benefit of the doubt based on his long history of being a flexible, results-oriented dealmaker. Likewise, other articulate pundits confidently state there is a highly refined method to what seems to be madness, refusing to panic reflexively at dips in the market. Lacking a crystal ball, the rest of us hold our collective breath and hope for the best. If things clearly aren’t working, one hopes he can shift course without sacrificing the mission, ultimately proving all doubters wrong.
Honest doubters include all those who want what’s best for our country, not those mired so deeply in TDS-fueled hatred that they couldn’t applaud a Trump-supporting 13 year old cancer survivor or wish success for a politician totally focused on bringing a war to an end, removing hardened criminals from our midst, restoring common sense and rationality (eg., the existence of two and only two sexes) to everyday life and creating an economic goldrush benefiting all Americans.
UPDATE 3/29/25: From the same artist who gave us Washington Crossing The Delaware, Emanuel Leutze’s epic mural in the U.S. Capitol, Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way, draws its title and thematic inspiration from a poem by British philosopher George Berkeley:

Painted during the Civil War, our lowest moment, it sings out America’s timeless place in human history, hope and determination forging on against the inevitable obstacles and setbacks. Trump’s providential return, a battle now actively waged on countless vital fronts, promises to be a “another golden age” on the American timeline. Right in line with the spirit and purpose of this painting, he has recently issued EO’s eliminating DEI and self-hating “anti-American ideology” from the Smithsonian while ordering the return of all those historical monuments taken down across the country during the nightmarish Biden years. America is on her way back and, God willing, we prove capable of taking full advantage of this second (third? fourth? fifth?) chance. The best is yet to come.

Not by chance the first book on Dennis Prager’s Book Club series hosted by Michael Knowles is Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search For Meaning, a book to which he attributes more personal importance than any except the Bible.
It is the testimony of a man who survived the Holocaust, losing at that time EVERYTHING except his actual life, surrounded on all sides by indescribable suffering yet somehow coming out of it with profound revelations of what allows a human to survive and flourish despite the worst imaginable circumstances. Now quadriplegic after an accidental fall at home, Prager is undoubtedly deep in thought, using the experience to full advantage and, dare we hope for him, with renewed hope and spirit in still finding meaning in an active life suddenly altered.

UPDATE 3/1/25: Jeff Bezos’ newly declared mission for his Washington Post is, for its Leftist readers, a betrayal, a terrible tragedy. And what is that tragic, misguided mission? Supporting and defending the “two pillars” that are “right for America,” “personal liberties and free markets.” Personal liberties? Free markets? For a political philosophy and major political party now entirely devoted to centralized control, micro-managing, curbing freedoms of all kinds, censorship, this DOES pose a problem. Ask John Kerry.

Then nearly two decades later came the Kennedy Center Honors, initially a thrilling event honoring the best of the best in the performing arts, our American version of a knighthood. For those of us fully aware of who these people are and what they achieved, the head whirls, the heart leaps and, admittedly, tears of gratitude, admiration and nostalgia flow.

Things have clearly devolved when this same American institution is pushing transgenderism and drag shows for kids as mainstream culture. This and other signs of our culture’s discouraging decline are everywhere. Note the most nominated motion picture for this year’s Oscars.
In response, Trump’s declaration below is one more key aspect of Making America Great Again. This mission must include our arts, drawing a clear line between what is healthy, aesthetic expression and what is undeniably hateful, soul-rotting garbage, politicized poison designed to degrade life and destroy Western Civ from within. Any society serious about surviving must acknowledge the difference between what is appropriate in public and what belongs in private. Those usual suspects making panicked accusations of totalitarian censorship seem to forget that the vast, free internet provides nearly anything they might want for themselves or their unfortunate children, however debased, BUT in their own space and time.
For all who value freedom and healthy life, Trump’s pointed gesture honoring real talent and meritorious artistic expression is cause for celebration. MAA(American Arts)GA!! Kudos to “amazing” Chairman Donald!
This wonderful mission, restoring artistic greatness to America, runs parallel to the establishment of a new National Park of American Heroes. May we suggest that, among the first occupants of this park, belongs Donald Trump himself.
UPDATE 2/1/25: Lo and behold in a day, both Canada and Mexico have suddenly taken the first real steps within memory to secure their borders from their side. IN A DAY. And just as suddenly and surely by coincidence, tariffs newly imposed on both our neighbors have been paused for a month.

Amazing that the original Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally forbids such blatant discrimination, yet both the mighty and meek have felt compelled to roll over for Wokedom’s illegal dictates for 16 years in obeisance to Obama/BrandonWorld’s stooges in the MSM and academe.
Something has clearly changed to the entire world’s advantage. An article from the NOT-conservative site Politico, authored by its founding editor John F. Harris, is a revelation of just how dramatically a cleansing wind is now blowing through the most unexpected places to rid us of BrandonWorld. Entitled Time To Admit It: Trump Is A Great President, the article points out the powerfully uniting effect American greatest leaders have had when tuned into real people and their real concerns. The alternative is what tens of millions of the commonsensical have had to live through since 2008, being browbeaten and even legally forced to accept absurdities and lies. We shall never all be in agreement, but the world can truly progress for the clear-headed and reality-based so long as the delusional souls religiously devoted to Woke remain a dissenting, dithering minority out of power. A window of opportunity has been opened for rational folk both here and abroad where America stubbornly remains the best hope for mankind. Let it be that there will always be a truly free America to which beset humanity can always turn as the last best hope.

To the surprise of no one who knows me and my musical inclinations, my response to this special day of thanksgiving is a classic Hollywood moment displaying how a pair of dancers could lift the spirits of a nation weighted down by economic hardship in the 1930s, two vibrant, optimistic American kids whom anyone could recognize as “one of us.”
Perfection then for the worried masses of the Depression, perfection today for Americans craving a return to the Normal and Commonsensical, the “Divinely Usual” as someone beautifully described Fred & Ginger.
Echoing Graham and Trump: “Will you remember the famous men/Who had to fall to rise again? So pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!”
