UPDATE 5/23/26: If our exceptional civilization is to survive, there must be a mainstream return to preserving and passing on true greatness, not a continuation of the leveling, egalitarian impulse that is the refuge of life’s losers. History’s “golden thread” of THE BEST ideas and deeds must be taken up again as an unabashed guide for the future, not as some crime of “inequity” as that sorry lot of past and present “intellectuals” pushing “Critical Theory” have made it out to be. Things have gone so far down and the consequences so dire that we must wake up to the inspiring notion of a western culture not in decline but poised for a mighty rebirth worthy of the great Enlightenment figures of Europe and our own Founding Fathers.
It’s impossible for the TDS crowd to understand or accept, but it’s a rough-edged, muscular figure fully at home with a vision of greatness like Trump who is giving us what is perhaps our last chance for such a renaissance. Amidst the impossible hydra-headed challenges facing him, what other elected leader in our lifetimes (other than perhaps Reagan) would be intent on building a National Garden of American Heroes on the Potomac as an integral part of his legacy?

UPDATE 5/20/26: Music is as good a way as any to grasp the essence of an era. Matt Walsh, born in the ’80s, laments the demise of a common culture as expressed by the music of his time. This certainly resonates with those of us whose music stretches back further yet to the glories of the Great American Songbook of the 20th century and really to the classical centuries of Bach (17th), Beethoven (18th) and Brahms (19th).
Speaking of Matt Walsh and particularly of the greatly gifted Ben Shapiro, reports of the admirable Daily Wire’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Long may they speak the truth and be one of the most literate, informative and entertaining sites in the galaxy.
