UPDATE 1/3/26: The promise of Inauguration Day, 2025, is an uplifting memory, somewhat dampened over this last year by inevitable bumps, some quite serious. Remember Ben Franklin’s warning about us being “a Republic, if you can keep it?” We’re now suffering serious strife within the MAGA ranks between prominent pundits and now even between the loyal MAGA base and its elected leadership, all of which could lead to disastrous midterms and a sudden halt to what has seemed like a miraculous Trump renaissance. Can we keep our precious Republic?

UPDATE 12/31/25: The Republic that the MAGA base is fighting to keep has intellectual/literary roots going back to our founding and the uniquely rich American culture that sprang up immediately in the first decades and two centuries that have followed. How else to explain and characterize the anti-Israel, antisemitic rhetoric of Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson and small-fry racist Nick Fuentes? It remains to be seen just how big a following they have actually attracted.
